Only three athletes have ever completed Sasuke – the final competition of Ninja Warrior in Japan. The first time this happened was on October 16, 1999 when Akiyama Kazuhiko completed the course of the 4th Tournament (Sasuke 4) with 6.0 seconds to spare. Akiyama was a crab trapper from Hokkaido born in 1973. He has competed in 20 Sasuke from #2 to #28, but only completed the final stage once. He has since retired due to degenerative retinosis reducing his eye sight. What an amazing athlete!
